Where to eat the best Greek food in Lefkada

Did somebody say food 😍?!

In this Lefkada food travel guide (mini-travel guide), you will find out some of the best places where you can eat traditional Greek dishes in Lefkada. Likewise, if you are new to Greek food, you will discover in this article some of their most famous recipes.

If you read any of my other articles, you already know that I’m a foodie and in my travel itineraries and plans I always include and schedule the best locations where I can taste local and traditional dishes. I take food very seriously because, in my opinion, this is part of a complete travel experience.

For many countries (a lot of them, as I realized), food is part of their culture. From the selection of specific ingredients to the way it is cooked and served, food can become a unique travel experience alone. This is why, before I travel to a new country I research their local cuisine and note the best-recommended places.

Greek cuisine is one of my favorites. I like how they always make everything taste fresh and with the perfect measure of flavor. Even their basic Greek salad is delicious and a must if you travel to Greece. By the way, as far as I saw, most of their recipes are very simple with few ingredients, but once you take a bite, it will surprise you with an explosion of flavors.

In addition to the obvious great cuisine, Greek taverns also have their own unique charm. No matter in which country you are, when you see a blue-coloured sailor type of place, you know that it is a Greek restaurant. Another thing that I enjoy in Greece, is the staff that welcomes you at every tavern. They always smile and try to invite you using your native language (if they know it) and serve you with respect and a warm attitude. The prices of Greek restaurants in Lefkada are mostly affordable, so don’t worry you can find a places suitable for any budget.

In this Lefkada food travel guide, I’m going to share with you my top taverns on the famous Ionian Island . Keep in mind that the order is random. You will have information regarding their location, surroundings, prices and dishes (with photos, of course). What is a food travel guide without photos that leave you mouth-watering?! I must say, this blog post is difficult for me to write because I’m getting hungrier by the minute 😂.

Now, it’s time to leave this very long introduction and get to the good stuff. I will make this Lefkada food travel guide as easy to read as possible, so you can navigate it fast and get all the information that you will nee

Where to eat the best Greek food in Lefkada

1. Ammousa Beach Restaurant

Location: In Marantochori, very close to Ammousa Beach

Prices: very affordable. For example, a serving of fried squids is 11 euro, one of the grilled shrimps is 15 euro, coca-cola is 2,5 euro, Mythos beer is 3 euro.

Dishes: the dishes are based on family recipes.

We tasted a lot from their menu:

  • shrimps linguine for 15 euros (one of my favorite Greek foods);
  • Fried squid
  • Moussaka
  • Fish of the day

Google Maps rate: 4,5 (216 reviews)

Ambience: you will enjoy your meal with a beautiful view of Ammoussa Beach

Surroundings: close to this tavern is located a secluded small beach, which you can explore before or after your meal. Find out more about it in my blog post with Top beaches to visit in Lefkada.

Ammoussa Beach Restaurant

2. Stavros

Location: is located in Sivota village (find more about Lefkada villages from my blog post: Best things to do and see in Lefkada)

Prices: very affordable and similar to Ammousa Restaurant

Dishes: the food tasted delightful. I think this is one of the best taverns in Lefkada and you should consider trying it out. The dishes we tried here are:

  • Moussaka
  • Fried zucchini (oh, how I love those) with tzatziki
  • Greek salad
  • Fried squid with French-Fries

Google maps review: 4,5 (355 reviews)

Ambience: the tavern is close to the port and the view from the table is amazing because you will get that vacation feeling.

Bonus tip: after your meal take the opportunity to walk around Sivota (if you don’t have the accommodation there). This is your typical colorful and vibrant Greek village.

3. Lefkatas

Location: in Athani village

Prices: affordable prices. For example, saganaki is 6 euro (this is a must traditional Greek dish), Greek salad is 7,5 euro, shrimps spaghetti is 13 euro, Mythos beer is 3 euro

Dishes: every dish we tried here was amazing and even the plates were cute, as part of the whole scenery. Maybe this one was my favorite tavern with traditional Greek food that we tried in Lefkada. Here we ate:

  • French-Fries (the best ones- I highly recommend them) – 3,3 euro
  • shrimps linguine – 13 euro
  • Squid-calamari – 9,8 euro
  • Saganaki- 6,2 euro
  • Sardines – 9,8 euro
  • Pie of the day – 6,5 euro
  • Souffle with Callebaut chocolate and ice cream vanilla – 6,2 euro

Google Maps review: 4,5 (approx 600 reviews)

Ambience:  because Lefkatas is located uphill, the view from the outside tables is amazing. Also, I liked that the place is secluded (there aren’t any more taverns in the proximity) and this gives you the feeling of intimacy and tranquility. This Lefkada food travel guide can’t be complete without a place with a view. This location is the perfect combination between great and delicious food and a stunning view of the surroundings.

4. La minute

Location: in Nydri

Prices: very affordable, for example, feta cheese with French fries is 5 euros.

Dishes: they offer a varied menu that includes Greek traditional dishes and Fast Food ones (sandwiches, French-Fries, pizza) and great desserts. Here you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Moussaka, feta with French Fries and lemonade were very good here. I highly recommend them.

Google Maps Review: 4,5 (261 reviews)

Ambience: this place is close to the port if you like that kind of vibe. Also, unlike Lefkatas, which was secluded and quiet, La minute is in a crowded area due to the port’s continuous activity and the other dozens of taverns that are located along the seashore.

Bonus tip: you can enjoy a great meal hereafter or before visiting Nydri waterfall. If you want to know how to get there, please check out my “Nidri waterfall travel guide”.

5. Amente

Location: Drimonas, located uphill

Prices: expensive

Dishes: this is not your classical Greek tavern, the place is very select and elegant and the dishes reflect this. As you can see in the photos, the food is more fine dining. We enjoyed dinner for two nights here, so we tasted a lot from their menu and let me tell you, the food is amazing! Their menu is simple and includes a few dishes and cocktails.

Google Maps Review: 4,5 (1.215 reviews)

Ambience: As I already mentioned Amente is an elegant restaurant and different from the taverns showcased until now. In addition to the delicious food, here you are going to experience one of the best sunset moments. Those nights stayed with me and inspired me to write an entire article describing the whole experience. Please check out my “Chasing sunsets in Lefkada” and I guarantee that after reading it, you are going to add Amente to your Lefkada itinerary. Just imagine delicious food, AMAZING desserts, jazz music and breathtaking sunset views.

View from the tables: Check out “Chasing sunsets in Lefkada” and prepare to be amazed. The sunset views were out of this world, I just couldn’t take my eyes from the glorious horizon.

Bonus hintI had to include this place on this Lefkada food travel guide (you will fall in love with these photos), if this restaurant is too expensive for your budget, keep in mind that you can come to Amente and enjoy great cocktails in the bar serving area that was maybe the best spot for watching the sunset.

6. Yannis

Location: Vasiliki Village

Prices: Cheap, gyros were approx 5 euros.

Dishes: we came to this place to try the gyros (can’t write a Lefkada food travel guide without gyros!) because it was recommended to us by our host as the best gyros in Vasiliki or maybe Lefkada. We didn’t check out the whole menu, because we focused on gyros and we like it so much that we came for 2 days here.

Google Maps review: 4,6 (313 reviews)

Ambience: the area is a little crowded, but you can enjoy your delicious gyros with a beautiful sea view. This is not a fancy place, but they serve good quality food. In my opinion, if you are a fan of gyros, this place is a must.

Surroundings: after your meal, you can walk along the Vasiliki seashore and enjoy a lovely evening. The place is very close to the sea and very easy to find.
